Ramona's Only Powder Coating Facility

PREPARE THE SURFACE
Each part is meticulously cleaned to remove contaminants like grease, oil, dirt, dust, and rust. If the part has been coated before, we dip it in our acid tub to remove all paint and powder. Then it's placed into our oven for outgassing to expel any trapped oils from within the pores of the metal. Finally, the part is sandblasted to leave a nice surface profile for the powder to adhere to.
APPLY THE POWDER
Powder is applied by using an electrostatic spray gun which positively charges the colored powders exiting the gun. They then adhere to the metal part, which is grounded, since it is negatively charged. This requires a great deal of energy ranging from 10,000 - 100,000 volts. The amount of voltage required changes between coats and the type of powder that's being applied.
CURE THE POWDER
After the powder is carefully applied, it's now time to cure it in the oven. Each powder has it's own curing temperature and time for optimal bonding. It's cured through a process called cross-linking, which occurs when the powder is heated and the synthetic polymer chains bond together. This occurs in 4 stages: Melt Point, Flow Stage, Cross-Linking Stage, & Satisfactory Cross-Linking.
INSPECT & DELIVER
After the part has been cleaned, powder has been applied, and the final coat has cured... each piece is thoroughly inspected. We search for any imperfections in the finish, check the thickness of the coating all around the part, and wrap each part in cellophane to stave off dust or minor scratches during storage and delivery. We pride ourselves in knowing each customer, YOU, is getting the highest quality service possible. Now don't forget to PIN IT!
